All the worries about not knowing lines and not remembering dances prooved unfounded. This was a brilliant show!

All the audience thoroughly enjoyed the show, some commented that it was the best show ever performed by Whitkirk Arts Guild.

I went out of loyalty with no great expectations - not my kind of show I thought. But I was wrong! This was WAG at its finest, using all its talent in the best possible way. From staging and imaginative lighting to direction and a programme for everyone to enjoy, it had to be a winner.

Professionally, the show was slick and lively, giving everyone in the cast of twenty two a chance to "strut their stuff" and involving the audience from start to finish. It moved along at a cracking pace with songs from the musicals, wartime, Disney and pop.

Andrew Thomson's take on Tevye's song from "Fiddler" set the tone and, for those who remember seeing "Blood Brothers" at the Grand many years ago, Gail Jackson gave a splendid performance in the Barbara Dickinson role and was my personal favourite.

The wartime section had the audience cheering, waving Union Jacks and joining in the songs that most of them were too young to remember, whilst David Bigland, Andrew Brown and Sean Robinson had everyone roaring with laughter with "Kiss Me Goodnight, Sergeant Major".

All the soprano soloists were excellent and Louise Norbury's "When you tell me that you love" was movingly and beautifully sung.

Judging from the youngsters in the audience, the Guild has two new heartthrobs in Matthew Jackson and David Bigland.

All together it was an uplifting and happy show - just the thing for a summer evening and I loved every minute of it.
